Kajal Jadhav: Wrestling

Kajal was born in a farming family. Her father was a wrestler and wanted to have son to continue his legacy. The family was gifted with a daughter Kajal. While growing up Kajal observed her father training her younger brother for wrestling. She always wanted to learn wrestling but since she was a girl, her family did not allow her to so. Kajal started watching her father while he was teaching her brother. Kajal picked up the techniques by watching the bout, Kajal was sharp and quickly learned it. Once there was a competition in the village fair, and Kajal wanted to take part in it, however; there wasn’t any other girl to compete with. So Kajal decided to compete against a boy, she knew she won’t be allowed. So, to hide her identity, she cut her hair short, pretend to be a boy and not only partook in the competition but also won it against a boy. Her father, her father saw every single technique she used in the bout. He was angry but also proud of her and since that day Kajal started to practice wrestling every single day. Two years ago she joined Mann Deshi Champions program, today Kajal has won medal at Khelo India and she has also won 7 medals at the national games. Kajal Is aiming to participate and win medal at the Asian championship.
