Celebrating those who shape our dreams Happy Teacher's Day!

My Story : Amit Swarup Mohanty

Why did I want to be a teacher?
Growing up, my teachers have had a significant impact on my life. They have motivated and inspired me at every stage and I wanted to do the same. When the opportunity to teach children came around, I grabbed it with both hands. Currently, I work as a teacher in a Govt UG school, Pahala. I have been engaged with children since 2019, and every day, I am driven to bring positive change to their hearts and minds.
I enjoy being a teacher
I have realized that each day of a teacher's journey is filled with excitement. You look forward to surprises, challenges, and emotions that your students bring forth. Being a part of their journey and supporting them is my most significant incentive. Teaching is filled with fun, learning, and enthusiasm. In fact, I have learned a great deal from my students, communities, team members, and co-resource persons.
Training and Mentoring
When I joined the Road To School (RTS) programme, I only knew I wanted to make a difference but my skills weren’t strong enough. However, through this program, I received training on how to focus on children, plan sessions, keep children engaged with activities through Math & English Kits, and digital literacy sessions.
How have my students benefitted?
So many students could not do basic mathematical operations, but after using the math kit and applying it to their daily life, they were able to do these operations with ease. There were many students who did not show any interest in class. However, I was able to change that through the Behaviour Change and classroom management training.
Has the Road To School (RTS) programme helped me become better?
Of course. I feel more confident as the program has enhanced my skill & knowledge in many ways. Also, my students are the most significant source of learning for me as they teach me something new every single day. RTS has helped me learn new things as I have exposure to different teaching styles, kits and resources.
