The standard deduction is a fixed amount subtracted from an employee&#8217;s annual salary before calculating the income tax. The deduction amount will rise to \u20b925,000 from \u20b915,000 under the new tax regime. This increase will benefit approximately 4 crore salaried individuals and pensioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Increase in Employer\u2019s Contribution to NPS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective AY 2025-26, deduction for employer\u2019s contribution to NPS has been enhanced from the existing threshold of 10% to 14% specifically for those opting for the new tax regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A Month&#8217;s Salary for All New Employees in the Formal Sector<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The finance minister announced that all new employees in the formal sector will receive a one-month salary from the government. This will be done through a direct benefit transfer of up to \u20b915,000, given in three instalments. The government will also contribute to the employees&#8217; provident fund directly. The maximum monthly salary eligible for this benefit is \u20b91 lakh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Internship Opportunities at Top 500 Companies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new youth internship program, announced by the finance minister, promises internship at top 500 companies. Trainees will receive a one-time payment of \u20b96,000 and a monthly internship allowance of \u20b95,000.
